| "Talking
to ghosts again. I've walked through London for over thirty years
now, and it takes that long for certain aspects of it to begin
to emerge. When you allow yourself to drift, you begin to feel
the tides in the streets. There are certain places which seem
to exist in other times. Also there are places where time moves
at different rates. It often feels as if London flows into other
cities at certain points. You only have to walk there and you
see shop windows from 1956 and glimpse rooms and vistas and people
who seem to belong to places and times you half remember. You
recognise faces then realise they must be much older now. When
you allow yourself to become aligned in the drift, magnetic coincidences
occur. When you go back years later you can still find traces
and fragments." |
